The Memory Nest Summer Sketch Challenge

Today I'm sharing a card I made for a Scrapbook Layout sketch challenge over at The Memory Nest blog.  It's a layout sketch so I had to modify it a bit to make it work for a card.

You can see the sketch and the other DT's great layouts here

10 Minute Craft Dash #21

Hi everyone.  I have another 10 Minute Craft Dash card to share.  My term on the Design Team has ended, but I love the challenges so much I'm entering as a participant!  This one doesn't have a color theme, but does have the "stars" theme in honor of Independence Day.

I was dying to use my new Stampin' Up! background stamp that I just got in the mail so that was a must use item for this card.   I also used white embossing powder and assorted istress Inks to create the background panel.  This emboss resist technique was probably not the best technique to do for a 10 minute challenge because I ended up having to cut the panel down while it was still kind of damp, even though I did dry it a bit with my heat tool, and the paper started to tear.  Oh well - live and learn.

So here's my card and I just made it with a time of 9 minutes 58.5 seconds.

10 Minute Craft Dash #20!

So my time on the 10 Minute Craft Dash Design Team has come to and end with this last challenge.   It's been great fun and I will definitely be participating in the challenges in the future.

I love the color combo of hot pink, tangerine and gray.  I created a watercolor wash with Stampin' Up! watercolor crayons and then die cut it with a Simon Says Stamp exclusive "fresh daisies" die.

I hope you'll all play along and make sure you link up your entry for a chance to win a prize from a sponsor of the 10 Minute Craft Dash, Timeless Twine.

Clean and Simple FTL239 and Simon's May card kit 2013

Today I used a card sketch from this site and the May card kit from Simon Says Stamp.  Everything I used for this card is from the kit except I added Stampin' Up! Summer Starfruit ink - a perfect match to the patterned paper in this kit.

Here's the sketch:

10 Minute Craft Dash #17

Hello!  I'm love love loving the color scheme Paulina has selected for this round of the 10 Minute Craft Dash.

Isn't it awesome?  For my colors I used Stampin' Up! Pool Party, Crumb Cake and Tangerine Tango as well as my new favorite stamp and die set combo from Stampin' Up! called Secret Garden.

I squeeked it in with less than 3 seconds to spare!

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Color

Simon Says Stamp's new challenge is Color - yay!  I love color :)
I was playing around with a new Simon Says Stamp stamp set from the April card kit and came up with this for the challenge.  I love the line of dots stamp from that kit although mine aren't all that straight, but I like it that way.

10 Minute Craft Dash # 16

Hello.  I'm here again with another 10 Minute Craft Dash Challenge.  This one is sponsored by Avery Elle and you can have a chance to win a $20 gift card to Avery Elle by participating in this challenge.

For this card I took out one of the very first stamp sets I ever bought.  I can't even remember who the manufacturer is, but I still love it because it's so graphic with all the dotted circles.  I created my own background paper with the stamps using the colors in the challenge.  I also used one of my newest stamp sets for the greeting.  It's an exclusive from Simon Says Stamp.
I used Melon Mambo and Gumball Green ink from Stampin' Up! and a colorbox in for the purple.
Ribbon is Melon Mambo from Stampin' Up! and the Striped patterned paper is also Gumball Green from Stampin' Up!

10 Minute Craft Dash #15

Well, I messed up my blog post scheduling and thought this posted yesterday - oops!

Today I'm sharing another card for the 10 Minute Craft Dash.  If you haven't tried one of these 10 minute challenges you should - it's so much fun to try and beat the clock!  I've been coming so close to 10 minutes lately I think I need to simplify my ideas.  For this card I used strips of card stock for the background and then stamped and embossed with white embossing powder.  The problem I ran into for this was that my card stock has different thicknesses so it didn't stamp well and I smeared it a little.  Normally I would redo it, but knew I wouldn't make it in time so I had to accept it and move on.

Head on over to the 10 Minute Craft Dash challenge and give it a try.  There's a prize!

Pattern Play - Day 4

For day 4's class I combined a few of the techniques shared.  I altered my pattern the striped patterned paper with stripes of stickles.  I also added stickles to some of the other papers, including vintage photo distress stickles on the brown polka dots which you can't see in the photos.  The other technique I used is the scoring/sanding on my background paper.  I did this on card stock instead of on patterned paper for more contrast to the circles of patterned paper.

Pattern Play - Day 3

Day 3 of the Pattern Play class over at Online Card Classes was about using large scale bold patterns.  I dug through my stash of older papers and found this one that I never used because the pattern was much too large for my typical style of card making.  It's not that bold as far as colors go, but the pattern is so I went with it.  I also cut the circle embellishment out of another sheet of coordinating paper from the same paper stack (from another day's class topic).

Pattern Play - Day 5 (I think)

I'm getting my homework days mixed up so I hope I'm correct in saying this is day 5.

Pattern Play - Day 2

I'm really behind on the class.  Here's one of the techniques from day 2.  I kept my card super simple to focus on the technique.

Pattern Play - Day 1

I'm taking the Pattern Play class over at Online Card Classes.  I love those classes because they inspire me to create.   Here's my card from Day 1.

10 Minute Craft Dash #14

I've got another card for the 10 Minute Craft Dash to share today.  I was really excited for this color combo because it screams spring to me and I've got spring fever.  I also used a brand new stamp set called Flower Friend by Simon Says Stamp.  I was dying to break that one out.  The ink colors I used are all Stampin' Up - Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Crumb Cake and Old Olive.  I also used Stazon Black for the sentiment, Stampin' Up! Melon Mambo card stock and Neenah Solar White card stock.  I made almost one layer card by masking out the sentiment area with post -its.

Here's my card and time...

10 Minute Craft Dash 13 - just made it!

Whew - I just made it with a time of 9 minutes 59.8 seconds!
It took me over 5 minutes just to stamp the background.  I don't know what made me think that all that lining up stamps and changing ink colors would be a good idea for a time challenge - doh!

Anyway, here's my card.  I used a Mama Elephant stamp set called Trifecta for the background and an exclusive stamp set from Simon Says Stamp for the sentiment.  Ink and card stock and button is all Stampin' Up!

Head on over the the 10 Minute Craft Dash challenge at Pretty Pink Posh and play along.
There's a prize :)

10 minute craft dash #12

I'm back today with another 10 Minute Craft Dash Challenge.
For this card I wanted to incorporate the colors using ribbon and then die cut it, but believe it or not I didn't have the green color in any of my millions of ribbon spools so I thought I would combine the ribbon with washi tape.  I actually really like the mix because the washi tape sits flat and the ribbon is thicker so it has more dimension with the varied thicknesses.   It took me over half of my total card time just adhering the ribbon and washi tape to a scrap piece of card stock.  The rest was super simple.

Lucy's Card Challenge - Day 2 and Lily Bee, Victoria Park

Today I'm sharing a card I made for Lucy's Card Challenge.  This one is for Day 2 of her sketch challenge, I'm going out of order.  Check out her blog - she's super talented!
That cute patterned paper from the Lily Bee, Victoria Park 6x6 pad and Bazzill Sea Salt card stock.  I also broke out a new die from Memory Box and the stamp is from Mama Elephant's On Target set.  I love that set, it's perfect for Valentine's Day.

10 Minute Craft Dash #11

I'm so excited to be posting my first 10 Minute Crafts Dash challenge as a Design Team member!
For this challenge, other than creating a card in under 10 minutes, is to use hearts.    I decided to use the Glitz Design, Hello Friend 6"x6" paper collection which is perfect for card making.  I also selected products that would be quick and easy to use. I used this washi tape for the border and this coordinating sticker sheet to the Glitz paper for the sentiment and chevron heart.
I hope you all join in and take the 10 Minute Craft Dash challenge - it's so much fun!

A few things I've learned from doing these challenges is to try and have a pretty good idea in your head before you start.  Get your supplies out and ready and have a card base ready to go.  One thing I've been doing for a couple of years now - when I cut an 8 1/2x11 piece card stock for a card base I fold the other half and put it in a basket.  This way I have a lot of them ready to go. I try to use those before cutting new sheets.

Here's my card:
