I've been getting Simon Says Stamp card kits since I believe 2013. I did take some time off from card making for a while so I did stop the kits for a time period. Anyway, I realized that I was using the stamp sets and saving everything else...for what, I have no idea. I have so many boxed up kits on my shelves so I've challenged myself to use the older kits so you'll be seeing some of that on my blog in the future.
I got the 10 cards 1 kit idea from Vicky Papaioannou ( I hope I spelled that right). So here's my first stab at the 10 cards 1 kit using Simon Says Stamp November card kit, which I think is my favorite SSS kit that I've gotten to date.
The kit came with 4 card stock sheets which would make 8 card bases so I added a few things from my stash in to stretch the kit out to make 10 cards. I added a speckled white, dark brown and rust colored card base from my basket of card bases I keep on my craft table and I added a piece of copper foil card stock.because I really wanted to see how the embossing folder would work on the foil card stock. I also used some other stamps I had just so I didn't have 10 thank you themed cards.
here are my cards from the November 2106 Simon Says Card Kit:
For my first card I selected some distress ink colors that matched the patterned papers and used distress watercolor paper for a resist technique.
This floral paper below immediately reminded me of a stamp set from a SSS kit from years ago and I did have the matching flower die to the stamp set so used that to cut the patterned papers from the kit. I'm not sure if it's still available.
I used a white shimmery pigment ink pad on the embossed card background to highlight the embossed flowers. I also pulled out a brand new SSS you die and stamp set for the sentiment. The stamp and die set are called "You Matter" and I believe it was design by Laura Bassen.
I played up the quilted design of this patterned paper by adding the stitching die as well as some hand drawn stitching on the tag.
Here is where I embossed the copper foil card stock, I used the gold stickles from the kit for the sequin centers. (sequins not in the kit). The miss you is die cut from the schoolhouse red card stock in the kit from a die I had on hand. I think it's by Avery Elle.
This camera paper immediately made me think of this stamp set that I won a couple of years ago and hadn't used. I also have been dying to try making a shaker card.. So here's my very first shaker card and my 10th card kit card.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
